CRF1100 SD08 (2020) : DCT Problem at 29.000 km. My CRF 1100 DCT only shifts from N to 1.gear. I can't shift up neither manually nor automatically. We tried to reset the software with D - D - N - D - N, but it didn't change anything. I could only ride in the 1.gear. When I come to a stop (faster than usual) and want to move back quickly, the engine sometimes stalls (ON DCT) on the 1st gear at a very low speed, and I have to hit start again.. :/ So annoying…. The Honda Africa Twin is a fantastic, versatile, and capable adventure motorcycle, but it isn't perfect. (I had a 1990 Transalp and have not ridden an Africa Twin.) My current ride is an "obsolete" 2005 R1200GS, but ya know, it carries its weight low, and the paralever/telelever suspension design truly works. They checked the spark plug gaps, the ignition coil wiring and the MAP sensor hose for kinks. Once these have been ruled out as causing problems, then Honda will authorise a replacement starter / kill switch. This will be done next week. THE NEW AFRICA TWIN ON THE BLACK STUFF. As with any adventure bike, the Honda needs to be able to cut the mustard on the road. All the off road capability will mean nothing if those road riders don’t like it on the tarmac. As we pull out of the car park at Honda’s Africa Twin Experience in Merthyr Tydfil, the bike feels beautifully balanced Sometimes it shows Headset 2 and sometimes nothing at all on the TFT regarding headset. Step 1 for me these days is to navigate on the TFT to settings/bluetooth/headset pairing and see what it says. If not connected, I enable the connection. If connected as passenger, I disconnect it. That usually causes and immediate rider headset connection. Honda Africa Twin Crf1100 TFT touchscreen problem. By EU laws Honda has to give you a replacement as the item is “expected to work for as long as it’s used accordingly”. Not the exact wording but - if you didn’t break it in a fall/drop/with a hammer or some other force - you get a new one. Forever. Just don’t budge and it’s enough I bought the 2020 Africa Twin DCT AS. I like its looks, lower weight, new electronics, suspension, new frame, and DCT more than what the GSA had to offer. Most of all, the deciding factor came down to reliability. Too many issues with the Euro bikes. I believe the new AT offers the most complete package today. #16. VemzL.
